Child Development Associate Credential Program

Two course formats offered this year! Participants can choose to complete the traditional track of the credential program and attend in-person training sessions, or register for the online program offered by the Texas Workforce Commission in partnership with Frog Street Press. For both options, the Child Development Associate (CDA) program includes 120 hours of Early Childhood training covering eight subject areas and six competencies. There will be 81 hours of classroom training and an additional commitment to complete 39 hours of on-the-job practical application including activity documentation. Online participants will complete course material independently, but are invited to participate in Saturday sessions for support developing the CDA portfolio.

Registration fee:

The cost to register for the CDA program is $35.
Payment is due at the time of registration, and eligible for refund upon completion of the program.
***Registrants of the online cohort will also be assessed an additional $50 course fee midway through that is paid by Workforce Solutions for participants on track for course completion.***

Registration deadlines:

Online course: Thursday, January 3rd
Traditional (in-person) course: Thursday, January 17th
Early bird registration for TRS participants until January 9th

Who can participate?

Caregivers who currently meet minimum requirements of the CDA Council to be eligible to take the CDA test, and are willing to actively participate in CDA preparation for assessment.

Participant perks:

All registrants will need to apply for a T.E.A.C.H. scholarship to cover the cost of the CDA test ($425). If that scholarship is not granted, Workforce Solutions will provide a scholarship that pays for testing fees. Participants will also receive a $500 incentive for credential completion upon receipt of CDA Certification from the Council.

A Q&A session is scheduled for Thursday, December 20th from 6:30pm-7:30pm at our Abilene Office located at 500 Chestnut Street, 12th Floor in Abilene. RSVP to Mindy.Ross@workforcesystem.org if you or someone from your center will be attending!
