 Job Description

  • The position is responsible for tank and hopper car cleaning (non-passenger railcars) and the inspection, care and maintenance of equipment used in the cleaning process.
  • This position requires the ability to make safe confined space entries wearing a respirator mask and other PPE with limited lighting to clean the interior of tank and hopper cars in compliance with Tactical Cleaning policies and procedures.

DUTIES

  • Inspect and clean railcar interiors for compliance with customer, FRA, AAR and Tactical Cleaning requirements.
  • Complete cleaning checklists as required.
  • Maintain a top priority of a clean and safe work environment. This involves ensuring all company guidelines are met and all safety rules are followed when performing duties, including Tactical Cleaning's Health and Safety Program.
  • Maintain clear communication with fellow co-workers and management.
  • Use of water or an abrasive or fine material (sand) to clean out the interior of rail or tank cars.
  • Assist management with supplying information for daily reports and all necessary operational documents in an accurate and timely manner.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to climb ladders, tolerate confined spaces and heights, bend, stoop, stretch, lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs. overhead on a consistent basis. This includes working safely around heavy equipment and on top of, under and inside railcars, and railroad tracks.
  • Ability and willingness to work outside in adverse weather conditions.
  • Ability to operate a computer to perform daily work activities, with an understanding of basic computer software (MS Word, MS Excel).
  • Knowledge of equipment and tools required to perform safe entry for cleaning (Familiarity with Sandblasting / Power Washing equipment).
  • Have a valid driver's license.
  • Availability to travel approximately 50% - 75% of the time including overnight stays from either mobile or other fixed job sites.
