Roller Operator (Abilene)
Job Description: The Roller Operator will be responsible for operating the rolling machine, using roller work instructions and knowledge of steel properties to roll cans.
Essential Functions:
- Record Job and section worked in time matrix, complete CRLW log, safely and efficiently operate overhead crane, and inspect rigging equipment daily.
- Use a crane to remove the can from the roller, clean the root pass after welding, weld 2G GMAW to quality specifications, and check the radius of the can using sweeps.
- Use one of the roll machines to roll tower cans, understand the pinch pressure process, and adjust equipment settings according to different materials and how they take pressures.
- Use blueprints to proactively identify parameters from the job, check plate edge prepping, actively support all EHS and continuous improvement initiatives, and perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required 1 year of welding experience or completion of an accredited 2-year welder's training program or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of materials, production processes, quality, raw materials, and other techniques, methods, and tools involved in the process of fabricating steel support structures.
- Work independently, operate either the Vaccine or Davi roller, understand how the machine rolls and the pinch pressure processes, know how to use pushers to align bevel edges, be familiar with the controls, and be able to perform preventative maintenance on the machine.
- Can set parameters, change wire, gas, and liner on MIG Welder, use come along to move the plate to line beveled edges, use a ruler, hand grinder, hard-stone and wire wheel, sanding pad, cut off wheel, hand scraper, welding pliers, hydraulic pump and bridge came to perform the task associated with this position.
- Must be able to locate and reference all work instructions, understand KPIs, metrics, and measurables, have a sense of urgency and accountability, and be able to obtain the Overhead crane certified on the job.
