Taylor County is seeking qualified applicants for Para-Educator (Teachers Aide)/Receptionist position at the Taylor County Learning Center/ JJAEP.
Hours will be 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mon-Fri., during the school year and 8:00am- 5:00pm (Mon-Fri) when school is not in session.
Qualified applicants must be a US citizen, must be at least 21 years of age, have a high school diploma or G.E.D., possess and maintain a valid Texas Drivers License and a have good driving record.
Duties include but are not limited to preparing assignments, grading, helping students with their work, and maintaining a structured classroom environment. Position requires the ability to function and respond appropriately and effectively in crisis or stressful situations. Work involves writing, standing, walking, sitting, talking, listening, lifting, and reaching with hands and arms. This position operates a variety of classroom and office equipment in the performance of their duties requiring manual dexterity, visual, auditory and verbal acuity. Must be certified in Handle with Care; Physical Restraint training upon being hired, and annually. Criminal history and background investigations will be conducted on all qualified applicants. Submit to, complete, and pass criminal history checks and sex offender background investigations. Must subscribe to and submit fingerprints using the Finger Applicant Services of Texas (FAST);Pass a Texas Department Family and Protective Services background investigation at time of employment and annually; and submit to and pass a PREA violation background investigation if the employee has worked at another institution.
Starting Salary: $28,000 annually + benefits
