Certain criteria are required to be eligible for the Youth Program:
  • Must be 16-21 years of age
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must fall within specific income guidelines
  • Must have documentation of a barrier to employment; this includes youths who are:
    • Pregnant / parenting
    • Deficient in basic literacy skills (examples: low Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) scores, low Tests of Adult Basic Education (TABE) scores, computes problems at an eighth to ninth grade level or below)
    • Foster youth
    • School dropouts
    • Offenders
    • Limited in or have no work experience
  • Males between the ages of 18-21 must be registered with Selective Service
Support services may be provided to youth in need of assistance to successfully participate in the program. These may include transportation or expenses related to beginning a job.
